Every student at Fair Lawn High School is issued a planner at the beginning of each school year. The planner includes a calendar, and so it serves as a device to help each individual keep track of assignments and activities.

The planner -- once known as the "red book" for the color of its covers -- also includes a guide to the various policies and rules of the school. Because each student has been issued a planner, and that planner has been reviewed with them by an administrator at the beginning of the school year, each student is expected to be familiar with these rules and policies.

The planner also acts as a passport of sorts for students in transit throughout the school building during class-time. Students are expected to have their planners with them at all times, and during class-time, student passes are written on the pass log page within the planner.

Your planner must be with you at all times while in school.

The administration and staff of Fair Lawn High School welcome you. It is our goal to help you feel good about yourself, to challenge you and to help you grow. The members of the Fair Lawn High School faculty are a well trained, caring group of professionals who will work to help you achieve your personal goals and our school goals. The faculty and administration will work with you and your parents as partners in the decision making process which will lead to excellent instruction and positive student learning.

This student planner is designed to inform you regarding your rights and responsibilities as a student in Fair Lawn High School. You must have this planner with you at all times while in school and your schedule must be placed in the plastic pockets at the back of the planner. Your school identification card should be visible at all times. The planner will serve as your hall pass and as a valuable resource. A committee of staff and students has developed the rules indicated. Your compliance will ensure a safe, healthy and happy school environment for all of us.
